General rubber main chain is carbon - carbon (- C – C-) compounds, but the main chain of silicone rubber is composed of
silicon - oxygen – Siloxane (-- Si -- O -- Si --)
This combination is the basic structure of crystal, quartz and so on. Its dissociation energy is great, which is the root of
the excellent heat resistance of silicone rubber.The main performance characteristics are:
In the temperature range of -60℃~225℃, the change of the physical property is very small and it does not lose elasticity
at low temperature.
 Good ozone resistance, weather resistance, quite oil resistance.
Tasteless and odourless.
 Medical use.
Disadvantages.
Poor mechanical properties - especially is the tensile strength.
 Poor drug resistance, poor strong acid and bases.
